I try to see place as more than landscape or geography. I try to see people as more than compositional elements. I look for history, architecture, and culture. I look for mood and emotion. I perceive in four dimensions and experience with five senses, but my medium presents only shades of colour in two dimensions, and my images are experienced with only one of our five senses. When I explore a sense of place or a human condition, I wrestle with the same problems that any artist or photographer faces when presenting their vision, and my images are often experiments in overcoming the limitations of the medium.
